Sherwin J. Isenberg, M.D. is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Isenberg was the Gerber Professor of Ophthalmology and Vice-Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, Jules Stein Eye Institute (Los Angeles, CA), and former Chief of Ophthalmology at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Torrance, CA), UCLA School of Medicine. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) and as President of AAPOS and the Costenbader Society. His research has centered on ocular development, ophthalmic uses of povidone-iodine and strabismus. He currently chairs the Africa/ROP Committee of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC) to reduce childhood blindness in Africa from retinopathy of prematurity.
